Spring - We love it! Beginning of comforting weather, blooming of flowers, the birds make their appearance again, the list goes on. This time of year also allows us to get rid of clutter, pack away all the festive decor, take care of those baseboards that haven't been touched in months, cycle out any items we no longer use and so much more! In this post, I hope to give you some pointer of things to focus on and to help you feel more confident in tackling the tasks ahead.

Let us AIM for a clean slate for you with some pointers below that will make "Spring Cleaning" a little less intimidating.

1. Clear that mail out. Taking at least an hour to sit and sort through the junk and maybe some important things that were missed can take a huge lingering weight off. Even if you don't think you have to open that piece of mail, I encourage you to do so any way. That way, you can feel confident in what you're getting rid of and what you're keeping!

2. Do the trash bag sweep. Walk through your home and decide on whether you're keeping, donating, or throwing away. Remember to shred any important documents that have sensitive information on them. When deciding on what to keep, ask yourself, “Does this bring me joy?" If not... you know what to do.

3. Deep clean. Either you really enjoy cleaning, or you can have an Ally In Me employee come help you with the nitty-gritty. If you enjoy it, focus primarily on dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and scrub all built up surfaces. Some amazing products to use on those tough water stains you may have is Bar Keepers Friend. **Disclaimer**: Make sure to read all the instructions on the bottle to make sure you're using it on the specific surfaces intended for the use of the product.

4. Focus on specific areas. Pay extra attention to commonly neglected areas like baseboards, light fixtures, and behind furniture. The most build up we tend to see is vents in bathrooms, living rooms, and in kitchens above stovetops.

5. Rotate those seasonal items. Store away those winter items, decorations, and other items that relate to any time of the year that isn't Spring/Summer. Make room for all the items that come with the nice weather!

6. Refresh your linens. Launder your curtains, bedding, and other linens. I would suggest investing in a good steamer for the upholstery and carpets you may have.

7. Outdoor cleaning! Those porches and patio areas could use a good sweep or even power washing! Outdoor furniture could use a good spray down. If you're feeling ambitious, the weeds and trimming of the weeds and flower beds could always use a little TLC.

8. Organizing after cleaning and the sorting of seasonal items. Arrange your belongings neatly in closets, dressers, and cabinets. A lot of times the plastic organizing trays you find online can become really beneficial for making sure you don't overfill the space you have in the pantry as well.

9. Maintenance...I know, it's not my favorite either. But, it's important! Check on those repairs needed, leaky faucets, loose doorknobs, oil changes, furnace/water/air filters, etc. Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors too!

10. Final touches, my favorite. Add fresh flowers! Or even a plant or two for a touch of spring indoors. Enjoy and relish in your clean and refreshed space.
